  • Yes! Currently in the state of Georgia, a referral from a MD is not necessary to begin treatment. There are situations in which it may be required or we may feel it is wise for you to consult with a physician. We are happy to guide you as needed.

  • The overall intention of physical therapy is to get moving pain-free. However, sometimes our treatments do cause mild discomfort and soreness.

  • HECK NO! Movement is medicine and we typically don’t do enough of it. That being said, unregulated and unguided exercise while trying to recover from an injury is reckless. Certain injuries require adequate rest and repair time, but this doesn’t mean we can’t get creative to find ways to get in your fitness fix.

  • Our intention is to provide uncompromised care to the people in our community. In order to maintain that conviction, the Athletic Joint is an out-of-network (OON) provider. What that means for you:

    • The possibility of reimbursement from your insurance company for OON benefits (superbill upon request)

    • No frustrating and surprising (delayed) medical bills which may be significantly higher than expected

    • No insurance authorization limitations handcuffing your access to the services you deserve

    • Always a 1-on-1 experience with your Doctor of PT. With insurance reimbursement cuts a non-factor, we aren’t squeezed for volume.

  • Absolutely! Athletic Joint is a registered healthcare provider. All expenses through our business are eligible for payment through your HSA/FSA account.

  • Dry needling is a fantastic tool when its used in the right application. It is by no means a catch-all treatment. Dr. Hooman has been using Dry Needling with great success for over 10 years. Over this time, he has learned when to best use this treatment.
